Her energetic personality, musical skills, and spirited songwriting have made her a media and fan favorite and have taken her to venues across the country. David James Band

The David James Band is a piano-driven four piece in the tradition of Ben Folds and Jerry Lee Lewis. After earning a degree in classical piano, David James and his brother Preston teamed up with two like-minded Denverites–Wes Barton and Justin Francoeur–to create 2010′s “Street Performer”’, an album that has garnered local praise for its catchy melodies and jazz-inspired style. The final track, ‘Alcohol.edu’, earned James the BMI John Lennon Scholarship. Musicians and non-musicians alike can appreciate the band’s ardent approach to writing and inspired live performances. The group is constantly writing and recording new material as part of their quest for ‘Pop Music Rehabilitation’.

Black History Live is an annual state-wide performance tour produced by Colorado Humanities to raise awareness of the contributions African Americans have made to our history and culture. Nationally recognized scholars portray African Americans who have made important contributions to U.S. history. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Davis will portray Angus Augustus Burleigh, a 19th century ex-slave, soldier and scholar who went on to become an acclaimed black educator and minister.
