Stargazers is hosting a Summer Fun Free Concert Series, featuring a wide range of incredible talent throughout the Pikes Peak Region and we invite all ages to join us, escape the summer heat, and have some fun under the dome, for free!
Produced by multi Grammy winner Jim Scott, The Broadcast is a soulful blues roots rock band formed in New York City and developed in Asheville, North Carolina. Fronted by the explosive vocals of Caitlin Krisko, the bands live shows bring back the spirit of high energy performances originally made famous by 1970s classic rock bands.
Since 2013, The Broadcast has released two full length studio albums and performed over 1,000 shows across the United States and Europe from intimate house concerts to sold out amphitheaters.
Krisko and guitarist Aaron Austin released their debut LP, Dodge the Arrow, in 2013 (recorded at famed Echo Mountain Studios with LA producer, Eric “Mixerman” Sarafin). The record was an exploration of “bombastic, larger-than-life” sounds which went on to sell over 10,000 copies independently and ranked #4 on the college radio charts.
In 2015, The Broadcast got “the call” from producer Jim Scott (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Tom Petty), and the band began recording their sophomore effort, From the Horizon, which was released in June to rave reviews from Relix Magazine, Paste, and Live for Live Music. With a mix of soul, blues and classic rock arrangements, The Broadcast has shared stages with Mavis Staples, John Prine, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, The Wood Brothers, Brandi Carlisle, Keller Williams, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, George Porter Jr. (Funky Meters), Betty LaVette, Charles Bradley and Holly Williams, among others.
Local blues band, Justus League, will open for The Broadcast. Justus League is an American roots based band, formed in 2013 by Austin Johnson, Dean Woodward, and Sean Pyrtle. JL is an award-winning band, they have been recognized as one of the best up and coming groups in the Colorado/Midwest region. JL's signature sound is characteristic of Dean Woodward's soulful vocals over funky syncopated rhythms. Sean Pyrtle's masterful bass groove guides the listener through Austin Johnson's blazing virtuosic guitar solos. JL seamlessly transitions through Motown/R&B, Latin, Jazz and even Country/Western, all with their fresh signature Blues/Rock overtone.
