Everybody welcome!

Join us to celebrate the legacy of Ms. Fannie Mae Duncan and the Cotton Club. We recall the days of the 1950s when Flip Wilson, Count Basie, and BB King were the entertainment at the Cotton Club and where everyone was welcome to jitterbug and jive, regardless of ethnicity. The Cotton Club celebrates a vibrant slice of Colorado Springs history by honoring and celebrating Fannie Mae Duncan as a revered and progressive proponent of inclusion.

The Cotton Club’s tradition is brought back to you by, formerly known as Colorado Springs Diversity Forum (established in 2005), the Pikes Peak Diversity Council, Inc. (rebranded in 2016 to reflect the reach to all the Pikes Peak Region). Our mission is to connect, include, and engage our citizens in the diverse and rich culture that exists in our community and region.

This celebration is in honor of Deborah Thornton, the executive director of Imagination Celebration, with a musical performance by Hazel Miller and poetry by Ashley Cornelius.
